Research focus
The aim of the project is to investigate metabolic crosstalk between intracellular pathogens and their host using the unique possibilities of hyperpolarized tracers. Little is know about this crosstalk and how external impacts such as drugs or prebiotics affect the interlinked metabolism of the pathogen and host cells in the gut epithelium. Hyperpolarized NMR, with its many-fold signal enhancement, is an ideal technique to investigate this unchartered field.
